Thanks to thos of you that responded to my call for help. I removed the cover and looked around but could not find anything wrong. I took a chance and rode all the way into work (62 miles) figuring that if a bearing was about to blow, it would blow on the way in. The bike ran great this morning and when I got to work, shut off the engine and coasted the bike to a stop, the clicking sound was gone. I just went out on lunch break to chek it again, and still no clicking, so whatever it was cleared itself up on the ride in. My guess is, Max was right about a twig or gravel stuck in there some where. I must have dislodged it while washing the bike yesterday. Bruce mentioned the squeak factor after riding in rain and it definately does that but then clears up after a re-adjustment of the belt or time. Whitch Doctor gives sound mechanical advice and I will use it if turns out to be a bearing, although I thought bearings just got bad to worse (they don't come and go). Anyway, thought I would keep you all posted. I'll let you know if this re-occurs and what I find out. I get nervous because as high mileage as this bike has, it's the weird things that will go wrong now, unlike most Savages that will never see 20K. Thanks again.
